How It Works
Brewing Kombucha at home is simple-and we guide you every step of the way.
Step One Place the contents of the Artisan Tea Blend into the muslin tea bags. Place the Natural Sugar Cane contents into a large pourable bowl. Add 1 litre of boiled filtered water. Stir the sugar until dissolved. Wait 10 minutes for the tea to brew.
Step Two Remove the reusable tea bag and add another 750ml of cooled, filtered water to the bowl to make to room temperature.
Step Three In a 2 litre jar pour the Scoby and starter liquid from your kit gently into the jar. Take your sweet tea blend and pour into the jar, allowing a couple of centimetres of space at the top for your new Scoby to grow.
Step Four Place your Muslin Cloth securely on the top of the jar with the twine provided. Do not close the jar with a lid, Kombucha needs to breathe in order to work.
Step Five Place your jar in a warm, dark space. Kitchen cupboards, Airing cupboards are perfect! For 7 to 10 days.
How Will I Know It’s Ready?
Your Kombucha will have grown another Scoby (pellicle) on the surface and your brew will have a slight acidic taste with some fizz. You can leave your brew a few more days if you would like the taste to be sharper.
What Next?
In order to make a second batch you simply leave 20% of your first batch This is your new Starter Liquid and add the newly formed Scoby with the original Scoby to your second brew. All measurements of ingredients are provided with your kit.
